Weird Day
Today was just one of these weird days:
1.) I woke up to my mobile making strange noises I've never heard. Turned out to be the low-battery-melody.
2.) I went shopping at Saturn and actually found a "Battleship Potemkin" DVD, but there was no Libertines CD. Up until now, it was always the other way round.
3.) After I left, a guy asked me to "drink a coffee with him". Word by word. I was just shocked. I mean, what kind of guy asks random girls in a shopping mall if they want to "drink a coffee". Couldn't he at least use his brain to come up with something a bit more... inventive?
4.) I started working though the pile of books I have to read during the next month or so. And to get it over with, I started with "Gender Trouble" by Judith Butler. Nobody in my course understood this book and I start to think I should have bought the English version because the German is full of English words anyway.
But well, I started to read it, and I still don't understand half of what she's trying to tell me (I have the theory that she just wants to sound sophisticated to make everybody think she's oh so intelligent.), but I actually enjoy reading it, as long as I pause a few seconds between the paragraphs. How can you enjoy reading a book you don't understand?
5.) I had to wash some stuff, and the washing machine is down in the cellar. Of course, I forgot the clothes down there and had to go down late this evening. The lights were out (except for the emergency exit signs), and the whole cellar had this freaky horror movie atmosphere. And I have to admit that I was genuinely scared down there. Alone. With strange noises and my steps echoing between the walls. I have not been scared of something like that in years.
I am just happy it's almost over now and I can spend the rest of the day safe in front of the telly.
