It might or might not be a German thing, and when it comes to some of the things that I described here, it's more of a trend anyway, and not at all an absolute. A lot of other people who commented here have experienced similar things, and they are not all Germans, but also from Spanish speaking countries, Italy, the Netherlands or China (and many more places). Maybe it's more related to a relatively small foreign language fandom versus a big English fandom. I don't know.
