Dear Writer Letter Parallels 2012
Dear Writer,
I hope I will not be one of those recipients one hates to write for. Those who demand either too much – half a novel with a specific pairing and ten kinks – and those who don’t give one any idea who they are and what they wish for. So I will tell you what I like most about the fandoms and what fic I’ve been longing for to give you and idea what I want, but first a few general remarks:
I read slash, het and gen, although lately I have been mostly into gen and canon pairings lately. I like stories about friendships, adventures, hurt/comfort that’s heavy on the comfort part and I always appreciate a good plot (and some good porn). Two things I would really rather not read is deathfic (although death as a minor or canon plot point is fine) and detailed depictions of depression, as both can sometimes trigger depressive episodes and anxiety attacks. Apart from that, I am not easily squicked.
As for the fandoms: I always choose fandoms where I am glad about every fic written for them, so even if I don’t squee myself silly, I will appreciate the effort you put into your story.
1. King 2 Hearts – Eun Shi Kyung/Lee Jae Shin. I admit it, I mostly want fix-it fic. An AU where Eun Shi Kyung doesn’t die. Maybe he lies in a coma for a while or his injuries are so serious that he has to spend the rest of the climax in the hospital. I really loved him and the princess together too and had hoped for a happy end. It doesn’t have to be focused on the pairing, though. I would also like to see his friendships with Jae Ha and Hang Ah. And his general awkwardness and lack of humour.
2. Arslan Senki – Any. Okay, I have to admit, I can’t help you much here. It’s been about 14 years since I last watched the series and as it was the first canon ever that I didn’t consume in my native language, the English dub complicated things as well (the first novel is around here somewhere too, but I haven’t read it). I don’t really remember much, but my favourite character was Narsus. The world and politics impressed me at least as much as the characters and the plot. Still, I read every scrap of fanfic I can find for it, and I fully intend to rewatch it when I find a VHS player. It’s simply one of my most beloved canons ever and I regret the fact that the fandom is non-existent.
3. City Hunter – Any. The finale of this series was a bit of a let down for me. My favourite character was killed of and scenes that I had hoped to see weren’t there. I don’t really care which open threads you want to tie up, as long as I get some much wanted closure. An AU where the attorney doesn’t die and gets back together with his ex-wife. Lee Yun Seong developing a relationship with his biological family or starting a new life with Kim Na Na. His mother and uncle starting over in the US. Choi Da Hye’s future, Eun Ah and Ki Jun’s marriage – I think you get the picture.
4. K-20: Kaijin nijuu mensou den – Any. I have a weakness for the Robin Hood/Zorro character, so it’s quite obvious why I like this film, especially since the main character is not a noble. Also, Takeshi Kaneshiro. But I like the other characters as well, especially Yoko, and the AU itself. You can either write me some fluffy Heikichi/Yoko fic, casefic, something shining some light on the minor characters like Shinsuke or Genji, or you can write something about the characters’ past. The only thing that I would not like to see is Heikichi/Akechi fic.
