A/N: Mindestens die Hälfte dieses Kapitels habt ihr sevilemar zu verdanken. Meinen ersten Entwurf hat sie mir nämlich mit der (stark vereinfachten) Bemerkung „Das ist scheiße“ zurückgeschickt, und ich habe es solange verbessert, bis wir beide damit zufrieden waren. Es ist auch etwa 2000 Wörter länger als vorher.
Ich möchte mich auch noch einmal vielmals für die Verspätung entschuldigen (Ich hatte ernsthafte Probleme im RL), und euch versprechen, dass ihr dieses Mal nicht mehr so lange warten müsst, die anderen Teile sind nämlich schon fertig.

Kapitel 1

I know it’s been a while since I last posted anything, and that I’ve not been very active lately. The reason is a Serious Problem. I’m better now, but I am still far from okay, despite (or because of) the medication and it’s going to take a lot of time to get well again.

Anyway, one of the symptoms I’m fighting with is a serious lack of creative energy. I just can’t write. I have some ideas, and the words are there, but I can’t put them down for some reason. That’s why (Im)Perfect hasn’t been updated yet, even though it’s almost finished, and that’s why I could not start working on anything else either.


But I did get some things done during the last two months:

I'd like to apologize if my entry is slightly unorganized. I did not sleep last night because I could not stop reading.

First of all, I really liked the book.

I just finished (Im)Perfect. It's 9900 words in total. For some reason, I always write a lot, but when I look at the number of words I reach in the end I am a bit disappointed. I mean, in one English exam I managed to write 2000 words in two hours. Compared to that, my stories always seem to be so short.

Maybe I should just start writing in English. It could be that English just needs more words for the same message.

So I wanted to read some new slash fanfiction in order to relax after having spent a few hours learning for the Japanese history exam.

And all I found that was at least halfway acceptable (meaning no typos and weird grammar in the summary) in the slash category was Harry/Girl!Draco or Draco/Girl!Harry. Now, I don't feel the need to read stories like that, even though I remember reading some good a while back. I know some people like stories like that and I appreciate the possibilities a setting like that has. It's just not my cup of tea.

But it got me thinking: Is that really slash? I know there are people who think slash only refers to a homosexual pairing that is not canon (so Brian/Curt from Velvet Goldmine would not be slash), while others use it for any homosexual pairing. But I really don't know about these stories.

I am not only talking about stories where one of them temporarily turns into a girl, and after he turns back they are still a couple and there is lots of angst and insecurity. That is obviously slash (at least for the last part).

But what about stories in which, for example, Harry turns out to be a girl, and stays a girl? Where there is no switching back? No boy on boy action?

In my personal opinion, it can only be called slash when the two characters are definitely boys/girls. So the stories in which the two of them would be a heterosexual couple would not be slash. But I am not too sure that everyone else shares my opinion. Otherwise, I would not stumble upon these stories in the slash category.

I finally finished lightningwave's Sacrifices Arc. Took me long enough, even though it might be considered a classic already. After all, it inspired a lot of other people to write Harry-is-not-the-boy-who-lived stories with a twin as the boy/girl who lived.

And now I am going to bed.

Ganz ehrlich, bis vor kurzem wusste ich gar nicht, dass es soetwas wie Het Ship Wars überhaupt gibt. Und davon, dass sich Harry/Hermine- und Harry/Ginny-Fans gegenseitig an die Gurgel gehen, hatte ich auch noch nichts gehört. Und dann bin ich in emmagrant01s Livejournal auf diesen Link gestoßen. Und tatsächlich, offenbar streiten sie sich darum, was denn nun Canon ist, Harry/Hermine oder Harry/Ginny.

Ich würde den Essay als ziemlich gelungen bezeichnen, und ginny_weasley hat richtig gut argumentiert. Mich haben die Argumente der "Harmonians", die sie widerlegt hat, doch sehr überrascht. Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass diese Leute entweder die Bücher nicht richtig gelesen, oder im Englischunterricht einen ernsthaften Schaden davongetragen haben. Denn die Textpassagen, die sie als Belege heranziehen, sind derart überinterpretiert, dass man sich nur noch fragen kann, wieso sie sich überhaupt die Mühe machen zu beweisen, dass ihr Pairing canon ist.

Soweit bleibt das Ganze ja noch recht harmlos. Amüsant wird es, wenn man sich die Kommentare durchliest. Wie kann man sich wegen einer solchen Kleinigkeit nur so aufregen? Da freut man sich regelrecht, ein Slasher zu sein. Wir verstehen uns ja alle mehr oder weniger, auch wenn wir nicht alle dasselbe Pairing lesen.

Da bleibt einem echt nichts anderes mehr übrig, als den Kopf zu schütteln und zu hoffen, dass sie sich irgendwann wieder einkriegen. Wir Slasher können ja auch damit leben, dass unsere Lieblingspairings niemals Canon werden. Dann sollten die das eigentlich auch können.

Im Moment frage ich mich, ob die deutschen Harry/Hermine-Fans genauso sind oder ob das eine Eigenheit des englischen Fandoms ist. Obwohl ich meine, mich dunkel daran erinnern zu können, dass es in einem Thread bei Animexx jemanden gab, der sich ähnlich verhalten hat.

Es ist doch bloß ein Buch. Wenn man zuviel Freizeit hat, kann man doch einfach eine Fanfiction schreiben, man muss sich doch nicht wegen sowas streiten...

Edit: HPB Wank, the Collectors' Edition Ich hab's gerade erst gesehen. Ein Haufen Leute, die mit HBP nicht zufrieden sind.
