possibility = (being able to be)

contingency = (not being able to be)

impossibility = [not (being able to be)]

imperative = [not (not being able to be)]

but:

possibility =/= imperative

and

contingency =/= impossibility.

I am thoroughly confused.

So, this was the author's summary of a part of the book I unfortunately have to read. I did not understand a word. And this was supposed to be the easy part.

I hate it when an author is not able to say things in a few rather simple words. But maybe I am just way to stupid for this one. Or the "not" should not be interpreted as a "-".

And yes, he put the words into brackets in the book too.
