What I’ve been up to the last month
2023-02-25 09:50 amSo yeah, I kind of dropped of the face of the earth there for a while and just barely managed to finish my assignment for Candy Hearts. The reason was basically a lot of stress related to trying to get into a retraining program so that I might finally get a job eventually (started this week, but they made it more complicated than it had to be for sure) and the health problems that caused. Namely, mystery heart arrhythmia. My heart is fine, apparently, as is my thyroid, so everybody’s best guess is that it’s stress plus my period (because my body hates me and I’m basically trouble free when I ovulate).
Anyway, new season of Carnival Row! Really like it so far, in sum. I think they kind of bungled the Philo/Vignette transition in the third and fourth episodes, not because it didn’t make sense for the characters, but because it felt like there was something missing there. Maybe some scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. But apart from that, I really love it, especially the Darius & Tourmaline stuff and also the scenes between Sophie and Jenila. I also wasn’t super into Imogen/Agreus in the first season, even though I liked them well enough, but I’m warming up to them now that they’re in an established relationship, dealing with some of the trouble that means for them. I think that’s because I generally prefer established relationships, or at least relationship troubles past the getting together part. Also, happy to see Jay Ali (what are the odds he’s the killer?) I even enjoyed the bit with Dombey in episode four – I just love how much of an asshole he is.
