I'm sorry if I came over as rude. I wasn't trying to start a flamewar or trying to imply that one is better than the other. It's definitely not. It's down to people's preferences. I think fandom is a place people should enjoy and not fight about.
Just to clarify: What I meant by "German fandom" is stories written in German and discussions about shows being in German. Which for me somehow didn't fit, which is why I didn't stay with it. It was mainly HP and SG1 related things, which I consume in English, so that was probably why.
