Well, at least calling someone out for using Godwin's definitely isn't a problem in German fandom.

I think the international fandom (even though I don't like the term, because it's still dominated by American and British discourses) is not that wanky precisely because the wanking culture is controlled by metafandom (Where you can't be too wanky and have to back up your indignation with arguments), fandom_wank (where you're mocked for behaving like an idiot) and fanficrants (where you have to follow certain conventions when you blow of some steam).
It's really difficult for me to gauge the reactions of German fen in a discussion because they don't necessarily follow the same rules I do.
