I actually had problems reading English manga/anime fanfics, even though I have no idea why exactly. I know I tried with Weiß Kreuz and Saiyuki I can't say that I got the impression that the English fanfiction was of a better quality.
Not to mention that it was sometimes really awful what the Weiß Kreuz fans did to Schuldig (and his German).
