Date: 2009-08-28 08:22 am (UTC)I hear you on that. It is utterly frustrating to read lines like 'Equality is about choices and women have the right to choose to stay at home.' Well, yeah. But it's not as if there was no social pressure on women to make that choice. *rolls eyes* Even worse is the indifference towards women in less privileged positions. Just because a woman in New York feels that she has the freedom to choose whatever she wants to do and that consequently feminism is passé (which is a comfortable lie but people have the right to accept discrimination, too, I suppose), doesn't mean that every woman can say the same thing.
