Dear Fandom 5K Writer,
2024-04-27 01:08 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
First off, I hope you’re going to have fun writing for me and that this letter helps you. I’d also like to say that I’d like fic for all the characters/pairings/fandoms I’m requesting here, whether it follows my prompts or not. If you have an idea that you absolutely want to write about these characters and it doesn’t go against my DNWs, feel free to write it. And if you think you have a better idea than me (which is quite likely) the same applies.
My AO3 Name:

General Do Not Wants:
General Likes:
Now for the canons:
Carnival Row (TV)
Canon-specific DNW: an AU where Philo has wings
Genres: Action/Adventure, Angst, AU – Canon Divergence, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Fantasy (used for either AUs or a focus on canonical fantasy elements), Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama, Mystery/Procedural, Worldbuilding
For all these requests, I’d be happy about worldbuilding/focus on the fantasy aspect of the canon. I really liked what we got to see of the worldbuilding, and I’m always happy to see the gaps filled in this fandom, especially with a focus on the different types of creatures, Philo’s hybrid biology or national and international politics. OCs are super welcome for all of these requests, by the way!
Berwick & Rycroft Philostrate:
Berwick is awesome and he deserved better. So, for this, I’d really be super happy with a mix of fix-it/AU where he doesn’t die, and I’d also really love them working on a case together, since I enjoyed those aspects to their relationship immensely, with Berwick seeing the best in Philo and Philo kind of not deserving it (even if he is a good detective).
Rycroft Philostrate & Darius Prowell:
I really loved their friendship, although they’re really more like brothers, aren’t they? I don’t care if you write an AU where Darius survives, or something that explores their friendship through the years before, either via the visits at Bleakness Keep (or you could try epistolary!), or during the war/their time in the orphanage – how did these two out of all the orphans become this close? Did Darius provide valuable insight to Philo during an investigation? How did the retreat go, beyond what we saw?
Afissa:
I really like Afissa as a character, not so much despite her being rather unremarkable, but because of it. I’d love to read about her experience fitting into the society of the Burgue, especially post-canon, how she relates to other fauns (considering she wasn’t born in the homeland), or see what happens to her after the Row opens. Does she end up working for Imogen again, or does she strike out on her own? Has she made friends with anyone while working at the hospital? What was her perspective on what happened during the second season? Really, I’m mostly interested in her “normal” point of view at what’s happening around her.
Also, I think it would be really interesting to have her and Jenila interact somehow!
The Gifted (Marvel TV 2017)
Genres: Action/Adventure, Angst, AU – Canon Divergence, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Established Relationship, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama, Mystery/Procedural, Slice of Life, Smut
Lorna Dane/Marcos Diaz:
I really loved these two and their complicated dynamic in canon, and how they didn’t stop loving each other when they were on different sides and always kind of had the other as a major priority, so I was pretty sad we only got two seasons of them in an ensemble show.
So, as the above implies, I’m mostly interested in established relationship dynamics with these two. For example: canon-style plot where they save some mutants, a situation where Lorna and the others have to save Marcos from the police for a change, futurefic about how the whole situation will pan out and how they live ten years down the line, them parenting Dawn with all their individual hangups, slice of life of what it is to be in a relationship (either pre-canon or post-canon) while you’re on the run.
I’m not really that familiar with X-Men stuff on the whole, so references to the comics and some other parts would completely fly over my head.
Gran Hotel (TV)
Genres: Angst, AU – Canon Divergence, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Established Relationship, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama, Mystery/Procedural, Slice of Life, Smut
Alicia Alarcón/Julio Olmedo:
Honestly, there isn’t much I wouldn’t read about these two, except maybe a permanent break-up. I’m happy with missing scene type secret relationship stuff (maybe in the secret room), five years on, them getting involved in another mystery, just exploring where they are post-canon, them going back to the hotel for reasons, all the AUs (e.g. they managed to run away together, what if Christina didn’t die), something that explores how Alicia will adjust to a new life, what will both of them do now that they’re free? What about Julio’s family?
Of course, I’m happy to see all of the other Gran Hotel characters as well (I’m particularly fond of Lady), so feel free to involve whomever you want to!
무빙 | Moving (TV)
Genres:Action/Adventure, Angst, AU – Canon Divergence, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Established Relationship, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama, Mystery/Procedural, Slice of Life, Smut
Lee Mi-hyun/Kim Doo-shik::
I just love this canon pairing and all its associated drama; pining for each other while apart; going on a mission together (or treating relatively mundane tasks like a mission); what is sex going to be like if one of you has super-senses and the other starts floating when he gets emotional?; missing scenes of family life on the run; trying to figure out life post-canon; a new threat emerges and the ex-agents have to band together (maybe even work with the North Koreans or Frank)
Jang Ju-won & Kim Doo-shik::
We got so little of their friendship/working relationship, and what little there was was great. I’d love to see more of them working together on missions, with Doo-shik being a bit of a dick at times. And I’m really curious to see how their friendship might develop after twenty years apart, now that their kids are a couple. And, as above, having to work together to fight a new threat in an ensemble, maybe with the North Koreans or Frank.
설강화 | Snowdrop (TV)
Genres: Action/Adventure, Angst, AU – Canon Divergence, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Established Relationship, Fix-it fic, Humor, Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama, Mystery/Procedural, Slice of Life, Smut
Something I’d like for this fandom in general, combined with all prompts: character death fix-its for more or less anyone: Soo-ho, of course, but also Gyeok-chan, Eun-cheol, Yeong-u or even Man-dong, if you think it would make for a better story!
Gye Bun-ok & Pi Seung-hee:
I absolutely loved both of them and their complicated relationship and issues. Some ideas on what to write: something that explores how they got from the secret reveal to their last scene together • them running the dorm together from an outsider perspective • post-canon fic about a slice-of-life type low stakes problem in the dorm
Jang Han-na & Kang Cheong-ya:
These two were a treat together in canon, and I’d love to see the two of them be forced to work together again (Gang-mu optional). I like how antagonistic they are, but also how they are both professional enough to work really well together. Or maybe they end up on opposite sides again, maybe with Cheong-ya working as a mercenary of sorts (in which case, I’d prefer both of them to come out of it alive). Maybe they end up trapped together for a night and have to work together and also endure each other’s company.
Lee Gang-mu & Lim Soo-ho:
A bromance for the ages! I’d prefer something set in an AU where Soo-ho survives, rather than missing scenes: an AU that branches of that bonus scene we got in one episode with them speaking terrible German(?) while Gang-mu’s eyes are bandaged • both of them working together on a case post-canon, maybe with Soo-ho as some sort of consultant • both of them retiring from the spy business altogether and failing/struggling to adjust to normal life • Gang-mu saving Soo-ho’s life somehow
Lim Soo-ho/Eun Yeong-ro:
The main pairing of the show, so of course I ship it! I really enjoyed how sweet they were together. I was really hoping for them to get a happy end, so I’d most like to read something set in an AU where Soo-ho survives somehow: whether he has to go on the run, ends up in prison or gets a new identity. With Yeong-ro taking care of his wounds/helping him hide or both of them settling into a life together despite everything that happened between them.
Kang Cheong-ya:
I’m not to hot on the love angle for her in canon, but I absolutely adored her being a badass spy! So, anything that focusses on that: some pre-canon spy shenanigans • her having settled down with a family post-canon and her past getting in the way • her and Han-na (and maybe Gang-mu) working together • saving her comrades’ families
Zorro (TV 2024)
Genres: Action/Adventure, Angst, AU – Canon Divergence, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama, Humor, Mystery/Procedural, Slice of Life
Diego de la Vega | Zorro:
I nominated him solo because while I don’t mind shipping (oddly enough not with Lolita, I prefer Nah-Lin or Mei, if you do want to include romance), what I’m really craving is him doing some zorro-ing. Something I always loved in the series was when he used his actual identity to get some info/achieve something, especially by playing the idiot landowner. And of course I’m also interested in post-canon fic, considering where the series ended! And in his relationship with Bernardo!

Open To Treats: yes
General Do Not Wants:
- detailed depictions of depression and alcoholism
- a story being in both first person and present tense
- unrequested non-canonical pairings for canon characters
- non-Canon Divergence AUs (coffeeshop, space, A/B/O, etc.)
- Korean speech patterns in English stories. By that I mean use of honorifics (-sshi, -nim), stuff like eomma and hyung, job titles in place of names, the use of names when a pronoun would usually be used in English, vocative markers (-(y)ah) or subject markers (-i(e) being the one I usually come across in fic). I am fine with Korean name order, since that is also used in English, and of course non-translatable terms, such as for food (e.g. samgyeopsal) or clothing (e.g. hanbok) are fine as well.
- character/relationship studies (fine as an element of the story, but not when it’s the main draw/plot.)
General Likes:
- stories with a similar tone and theme as canon
- casefic
- plotty fics in general
- complicated interpersonal relationships
- nuanced friendships and family relationships
- post-canon fic
- canon-divergence AUs
- pining and slow burn
- deep passion or devotion (to a person or a cause)
- action/adventure, heists and cons
- humour
- hurt/comfort that is light on the comfort (or non-extreme whump)
- outsider POV
Now for the canons:
