Tag 2: Hotel Dina )

Tag 1: Eine Zugfahrt die ist lustig, eine Zugfahrt die ist...

I just watched a discussion on TV about feminism and children and so on. Mainly because I wanted to listen to something depressing again. The only other news that was not positive today was the pending end of the world.

Anyway, there were five people (four women) and the moderator (male). So naturally, most of the talking was done by the women for once. And the situation of the women in Germany is something I am normally very much interested in.

If it just hadn't been for the four shining examples of womanhood present. First of all, they invited Eva Herman, once the perfect example of a career woman, who recently wrote a book in which she suggested than women should be housewives again, and not forced to leave their children in other people's care. The second one was one of her friends. Now the third women (Liberal politician) and the fourth woman (author) were the exact opposites. The politician said, in essence, that everything was better in France and Belgium, where women who stay at home with the kids are looked down upon, and the author wanted women to become some kind of super-women who lived their dreams (=not being housewives).

In the end, the only one who said something that was not meant to insult or discredit the other side was the only guy present. How sad is it when you have to listen to a discussion on a topic so important to women, and the only one who seems to have a halfway realistic, practical and reasonable approach that might be good for all women is a man? Especially considering they were talking about the destructive power of testosterone, on the verge of clawing each others eyes out, while the man stayed calm and serene.

If I have to listen to anymore of this shit I am going to turn into an anti-feminist. Not even Judith Butler managed that so far (and she seems to have that effect on occasion).
