Managed to keep a hoglet alive – at least so far (well, she’s not a hoglet any longer). As I wrote when I found it, people who knew what they were talking about didn’t give her the best chances. She was really small when we found her in the garden, walking around during the day and not even attempting to roll up properly when I picked her up. She was also sneezy for a while, a bit dehydrated and riddled with fleas and ticks (all wild hedgehogs are). So, yeah, not the best chances. And we had no idea what we were doing, but all the spots were filled already (don’t use robot lawnmowers if you live in a place with hedgehogs), so the alternatives weren’t that great either.
But she’s currently hibernating when it’s cold enough, waking up for a bit of a snack every now and then. She’s at a good weight, and we haven’t had health scares since early December.
