How long should I wait for an answer after asking someone if they would be willing to beta a fic of mine?

I'm asking because my Yuletide support group buddy already heard back from the person she asked and she asked later than I did. I've been waiting for two/three days now, and I know that I am online far more often than other people, so I really don't know if it's reasonable to get a little nervous or if it's still normal response time. I've also written to people before who just didn't notice my message and wrote back to say sorry after a couple of months, so ...

I would think a few days would be enough to say whether you would beta or not.

You know, I sometimes mean to reply and then get busy, and the email slips down in my inbox. If it's just been a day or two, and I get another request, it might seem a bit pushy, but by the 3rd day, if I haven't replied, I wouldn't mind a reminder.

This happens to me as well. I wouldn't even get nervous if it wasn't a Yuletide story/a story with a deadline. I sort of expect being told that I'll have to rewrite it from scratch and that could take long.

I'm not sure if I will write to her again or just try the other people who probably won't be able to Britpick, but who know the fandom at least.

Ask someone else. It can't hurt to have more than one beta and if she doesn't answer, you are wasting time you might need to make the deadline. --Doro
