first of all, I hope you'll have fun writing something for me! I hope this letter gives you some idea of what I like about the canons and characters I requested and also maybe some idea where to start.

Generally speaking, I like stuff that is a similar tone to canon, with the exception of some of the really dark canons, where I prefer my fic a shade or two lighter. But if you stick to the level of darkness/sadness/fluff that is present in canon, you should be safe. The same goes for anything that might need a warning (graphic depictions of violence, character death, underage, non-con etc.) – if it's a part of canon, or a reasonable extrapolation (*cough*Game of Thrones*cough*), knock yourself out if that is what you want to write. The only things that I really do not want are detailed depictions of depression and alcoholism, which are possible triggers for me (sadness and alcohol consumption are fine, though). But other than that, I really don't have any hard DNWs. Everything else is fandom specific.

I hope I won't be one of those recipients one hates to write for. Those who demand either too much – half a novel's worth of specific pairings and ten kinks – and those who don't give you any idea of what they really wish for. So I will tell you what I like most about fandoms and fics in general and what I've been longing for in the specific fandoms I requested.

While I read slash, het and gen, I've been mostly into gen and canon pairings lately. I like stories about friendships, family relationships, adventures and I always appreciate a good plot. Since I spend a lot of time reading Game of Thrones fanfic, I am desensitized to most things, but on the whole (especially in other fandoms), I'm not a fan of darkfic and like my happy or at least ambivalent endings. Deathfic has been a big no for me as well, just like the detailed depiction of depression, due to suffering from it. But apart from that, I'm not easily squicked.

As for the fandoms and characters I chose – I'd really appreciate any fanfic written for them, because they deserve more love. If I don't squee myself silly in the comments, I assure you it's not because I don't like what you wrote. I'm just not very good at squeeing. It's a personality quirk and people have given up on asking my opinion on things because a sober “It's good” is all I can come up with.

1. Raumpatrouille Orion – Any: This one has been on my list of wishes for years, so I would read just about anything. I confess, I don’t ship the canon pairing Cliff/Tamara. Instead, I ship Cliff/Lydia van Dyke, Tamara/Helga, Mario/everyone and Lydia/everyone. Both Lydia and Tamara are my favourite characters, so of course I would love to read fic about them being awesome or having fun together. But I’d also read teamfic, adventure, canon pairings and a story about Villa or the other members of the crew. I also think a story about Spring-Brauner has potential. Canon left me with a desire for more that I haven’t satisfied yet. If you are a native speaker of German, please consider writing the story in German, if that isn’t against the rules. If not, English will do as well!

2. Renegade X Series – Chelsea M. Campbell – Damien Locke, Gordon Tines: I really crave more about the family life of Damien Locke, particularly his relationship with his father and the adults in his life. I would love to read about how he deals with his crazy mother and her son and husband and his father's family some more. Maybe a fic about him attending some family gathering or someone throws a party for him when he passes summer school after book 4. What I love most about the books – besides Damien, of course – is the way the characters define themselves by being heroes or villains and the way especially the adults don't deal well with the other.

3. Rivers of London – Ben Aaronovitch – Any: In this fandom, I only read gen and canon pairings, and I'd prefer casefic or something slice-of-life-y to anything pairing focused. Stuff I'd like to read includes, but is not limited to, Nightingale and Peter dealing with the new witches, Peter and his mother and father, Abigail (because she's cute) meeting the supernatural, something about Varvara, Dominic Croft visiting the big city (because I'm a city person living in the countryside and can sympathise), German wizards asking for international cooperation, and of course, protocols and Peter's views on architecture. And pretty much any casefic. Note: I have read the first few comics and Furthest Station, but don't mind book-only fic.

4. Rome – Octavia/Agrippa: Oh God, could canon have ended in a worse place? I mean, it’s nice to know Pullo and Vorenus will get their happily ever after living with their children in some place Not Rome, but when I watched the series, I was sure that this pairing would play a major role in the third season. Both are unmarried now, but I think Octavian still wouldn’t be too happy about them and I would love to read a post-canon story that brought them together against the odds or just showed us that while they have problems to work out, they also still have feelings for each other.

I like stories about friendships, adventures, hurt/comfort that’s heavy on the comfort part and I always appreciate a good plot (and some good porn). Two things I would really rather not read are deathfic (although death as a minor or canon plot point is fine) and detailed depictions of depression, as both can sometimes trigger depressive episodes and anxiety attacks. Apart from that, I am not easily squicked.

As for the fandoms: I always choose fandoms where I am glad about every fic written for them, so even if I don’t squee myself silly, I will appreciate the effort you put into your story. This year’s letter also contains some copypasta from previous exchanges where these wishes were not fulfilled.

Dear Yuletide writer,

first of all, I want to tell you a little bit about my general preferences, although I prefer to read different stories in different fandoms. I’m multifannish, and read more or less everything, slash, her and gen, I just don’t like stories that are overly porny. I prefer porn with plot. I also like bittersweet undertones, quirky humour and applied research.

I don’t read deathfic or stories that heavily feature mental illness (both is triggering), but if the death is canon or minor, I can deal with it. I’m not easily squicked, though. As long as your story doesn’t feature detailed descriptions of fingernail and eyeball torture, necrophilia or cannibalism, I’m okay. Rape, violence, mpreg, excessive fluff, child and animal abuse I can deal with as long as they have a specific purpose in the story. Of course, I don’t necessarily crave them either (see the specific requests).

I’d also like to note that out of the four fandoms I’m requesting, I’ve only read fic for one so far, because the other three don’t seem to have any written for them. This means that my requests consist more of a number of story ideas that I would like to read and less of one specific thing that interests me. Just choose the one (or two, if you want to combine them) that interest you the most. Even if you think you can come up with something else that you think I might like – go ahead! I’m truly grateful for every fic written for these fandoms (except maybe Mary Sue fic).

The fandoms:

Main Hoon Na – Any: Main Hoon Na is my favourite Bollywood movie. I love its cracky sillyness and I’d love to know what becomes of the characters after the movie. How do Ram and Lucky get used to being brothers? What will Lucky do now that he’s finally graduated? What would a romance between the principal and Mrs. Kakkad look like? Will Percy ever find the girl of his dreams? Of course I’m also interested in alternative perspectives. What does Miss Chandni think of Ram? And what about Lucky’s mother?

Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori | Red River | Anatolia Story – Any: I love history. And I love historical fiction, so I couldn’t not read this manga, since I had barely heard of the Hittites before. I’m especially interested in stories that explore the foe-yay/rivalry between Kail and Ramses (that naked wrestling match …), what the girls do when there’s no terrible danger lurking around the next corner, how the relationship between Ryui, Shala and Kikkuri works, what goes on in Ilbani’s head, what would have happened if Zannanza had made it to Egypt and married the princess, what happens to Juda … I haven’t read the last three volumes yet, so there is some stuff that I don’t know, but I don’t mind spoilers.

Survivors (2008) – Any: I love this series, I even made a picspam for it, but the fandom is sadly very small. I love all the characters, including the not so nice ones and those that were merely recurring, like Samantha Willis. You could write about her struggle to rebuild a society. I’d also love to know what happened to Peter and how he deals with having his mother back. How does Najid react to his presence? Will they become friends? I also love Al and Najid’s bonding experiences, the difficult relationship between Tom and Anya (especially from Anya’s PoV). What happens after the second season? What if Sarah hadn’t died? I’d read Greg/Tom hatesex too!
